All notable changes to this project will be documented in this file.

The format is based on [Keep a Changelog](https://keepachangelog.com/en/1.1.0/),
and this project adheres to [Semantic Versioning](https://semver.org/spec/v2.0.0.html).

## [Unreleased]

### Added

* Linting with oxlint and dead-code checks with fallow, both run in CI
* Documentation site with guides and an API reference, at https://simmo.github.io/niobe/
* Agent guide (`AGENTS.md`) and Claude Code hooks that format, lint and check the changelog

### Changed

* Formatting uses oxfmt instead of Prettier
* The README is now a short introduction; the API reference moved to the documentation site
* Releases are published from GitHub Actions with npm trusted publishing and staged publishing, so each version has a provenance attestation and is approved on npm before it goes live
* Development, CI and releases use Node 24 (`.nvmrc`)
* The library is type-checked without Node or browser types, so it stays usable in any JavaScript runtime
* Development dependencies updated, including TypeScript 6, Vitest 5 and release-it 21, and GitHub Actions moved to their latest versions
